Establishing online communications tools for students' unions can be costly and time-consuming if undertaken independently. Website design and hosting, email storage, mailing lists, domain name registration, data backup, design and content management all require significant resources and technical knowledge. Member locals of the Canadian Federation of Students can participate in the Students' Union Website Service, which provides website design and hosting services at a higher quality and lower cost.
